Being more active

There are many ways you can get more active, and it is important to find something you enjoy. Being active should be fun!

If you are unsure of how much exercise you should be doing and the types of exercise we need to do you can view the current guidelines on exercise here

A great way to get more active is getting out walking, and we are fortunate in the borough to have lots of open spaces. We also have weekly FREE wellbeing walks run by volunteers. Ready Steady Walks are free, push-chair friendly, social walking groups for families with young children living in Hampshire. Havant Borough council have a walking and cycling map.

As well as the Get Up and Go activities we also have a database of what's on in the borough, in our community centres, leisure centres and sports groups. If you are looking for a particular activity you can email info@getupandgohavant.com

It is worth checking out your local gyms. Most of them offer deals and taster sessions. Horizon Leisure have a leisure centre in Havant, Waterlooville and a small Wellbeing Hub in the Meridian centre, Havant. They have an array of activities on offer for children up to seniors. Check out all the facilities and activities on offer!

Horizon also have concessions available for people on receipt of benefits called the Horizon Community discount card.

If you have a health condition, you may be eligible for the Horizon health referral scheme, a 12-week structured course of physical activity, designed to help you move a little more every day in a fun and supportive environment.

There are some great tips on this NHS page, including NHS approved fitness apps, workout plans and links other sites such as:
