Service Description
Steady and Strong classes for older adults have been developed by experts to increase your strength and balance, helping you to stay stronger for longer and able to keep doing the things you love. Doing strength exercises and balance exercises twice a week can reduce your risk of having a fall. Strengthening your muscles will improve your mood, help your sleeping patterns, bring benefits for your overall health and wellbeing and importantly prevent deconditioning. You will do a mix of seated and standing exercises, with chair support for those who need it. Your first session is FREE and then £5 a week thereafter. After the class there will be tea, coffee and biscuits provided (included in the £5 cost). This is being funded by MHA Communities Portsmouth & Havant We are lucky to have Steady and Strong classes all across the borough. For a full list of Steady and Strong classes in Havant / Hampshire click here: https://www.hants.gov.uk/socialcareandhealth/adultsocialcare/balanceclasses/ If you have had a fall in the last three months you may be eligible for support through the NHS, which can include NHS balance classes. Please talk to your GP about local NHS falls services in your area. For more information about how to prevent a fall, please see the Hampshire County Council Falls Prevention page: https://www.hants.gov.uk/socialcareandhealth/adultsocialcare/falls-prevention We require everyone attending a Get Up and Go activity to complete a short registration form. You only have to do this once so if you have done this already you do not have to complete it again. If you have not done a form yet head to the bookings page after you have booked on this course and the link is in a green box at the top.
