Get up and Go and Walx and more are working together to provide a unique Nordic walking experience for the over 55’s in Havant Borough.
Nordic Walking has grown into a popular way for people of all ages and fitness levels to gain fitness, tone up, lose weight and improve their overall health. Unlike when trekking or rambling, Nordic Walking poles are planted behind you in order to propel you along.
This engages the upper body and makes you feel lighter on your feet, which has four major advantages. You use 90% of your major muscles so your upper body gets toned as well as your legs and backside! You can burn 20–40% extra calories by using the poles – this can really help with weight loss It takes the pressure off your knees and joints and is great for back and neck problems.
The course content is as below:
Power of the Poles 1 (POP1) on strapless and then strapped poles, 1.5 hours duration.
Starter walks (4 weeks building distance & speed)
Due to COVID there are limited spaces!
Sun 20/9 10am Taster Hayling- YOU MUST ATTEND THE TASTER to be able to do the course- 1 hour long – FREE
Sun 20/9 2pm Taster Havant- YOU MUST ATTEND THE TASTER to be able to do the course- 1 hour long – FREE
Sun 27/9 10am POP1 Hayling- YOU MUST ATTEND THE POP1 to be able to do the course- 1 hr 30 long- £5 per session
Sun 27/9 2pm POP1 Havant- YOU MUST ATTEND THE POP1 to be able to do the course- 1 hr 30 long- £5 per session
If you are unable to attend all of the below sessions form this point this is not a problem! These sessions are all about practising what you have learnt.
Sun 4/10 10am Starter 1 Hayling- £5 per session

Sun 11/10 10am Starter 2 Hayling- £5 per session

Sun 18/10 10am Starter 3 Hayling- £5 per session

If you would like to book a place onto the course please ensure you are a Havant Borough resident and you follow this link and book your space:
On the LHS there is a tab with “Upcoming Activities”.
At the bottom there is an option to “View all Activities”.
Work down the list until you find activities titled ”Havant Get Up & Go”.
Click on book and it should redirect you to the infamous Exercise-anywhere.com website.
Individuals will then need to step through and register, complete the PAR-Q (medical checklist) and set up a funding source.
Then …. book away by choosing the dates you wish to attend.
